The AAG Scientific Conference Committee invites submissions of abstracts for presentation at the 58th AAG Conference.
 
We welcome abstracts from anyone with an interest in ageing, including researchers, educators, aged care and health practitioners, service providers, policy makers, students, consumer advocates and other experts who are interested in better understanding the nature of ageing, and improving the lives of older people.
In addition to reports of empirical research findings, submissions presenting innovative ideas, case studies from practice, policy or the lived experienced of older people with critical reflections for us all to learn from are also welcomed. The conference theme “Ageing at the Centre” invites us all to view ageing at the centre of our communities, our practice, our policies, our environment, our lives. It draws us to explore fresh ideas and work differently to improve the experience of ageing through connecting research, policy and practice.

All ThinkTank, symposium, oral and poster presentation submissions should include how the presentation connects with the conference theme of “Ageing at the Centre” and what participants will learn or gain from the presentation.

The six themes are:
1 - Arts, design, innovation & technology
2 - Climate, our environment & nutrition
3 - Health and Medical
4 - Policy, advocacy, planning & change
5 - Service delivery, workforce & reform
6 - Ageing well, longevity & social care

Submission
Step 1 - Please review the Abstract Guidelines carefully prior to submission.
Step 2 - Prepare your abstract, biography (third person, paragraph format) and author / presenter list. If summitting for a symposia, please ensure you have the name of the coordinator and overall title.
Step 3 - Submit your abstract using the relevant link below. Please note that the account details are not connected to the membership database or previous events, all authors should create a new account.

Oral Presentation
ORAL PRESENTATION
Oral presentations form them the bulk of the AAG conference program.
They are presented as part of the concurrent sessions, generally grouped by theme. Oral sessions are usually allocated 15 minutes for presentation and questions, subject to final program structure.
Thinktank
THINKTANK
ThinkTanks are intended to facilitate conversations on an issue, challenge, or methodological approach.
‍
Thinktanks are designed to cross disciplinary and practice boundaries in order to provoke a rethinking of an issue or way of working. Importantly, these are conversations that engage and amplify diverse voices and include the perspectives of older people and their communities, policymakers, industry, and researchers.

Symposium
SYMPOSIA
Symposia are offered as concurrent sessions and allow presenters from diverse research or practice groups to engage audiences in a dynamic way. Submissions for symposia should propose a set of related papers on a particular topic or that is relevant to the conference theme.
Art EXhibition
ART EXHIBITION
The art exhibition provides a unique and interactive space at the conference which has proved highly popular since its introduction. We invite proposals that enrich, challenge, inspire and provoke reflections on ageing. Submissions may be in any form - painting, drawing, print, mixed media, film (screenings may be synchronous and/ or asynchronous), digital, performance, free standing sculpture, medium installation, poems etc for this interdisciplinary exhibition.
Poster
POSTER PRESENTATION
Posters provide a visual display of new techniques, programs, research or professional innovations. Posters will be displayed for the duration of the conference in the exhibition hall.
 

ART EXHIBITION

We invite proposals that enrich, challenge, inspire and provoke reflections on ageing. Please note that Alice Springs will create some logistical challenges, so larger / more complicated exhibitions may not be possible.
 
Key Dates
Abstract submission closes - Thursday 24 April 2025
Notification to authors - By week ending 30 May 2025
Preliminary program release - by week ending 20 June 2025
All presenters to be registered - Friday 1 August 2025

Notification of Acceptance
The Conference Managers will not be held responsible for abstract submissions not received via the website or for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.

Registration
The presenting author will be required to register for the conference to ensure their abstract is included in the final Program.

Reviewers
Submissions will be “blinded” to the reviewers. Reviewers will not be able to see the authors or affiliations. Submitters must not assume that there will be knowledge of the previous work of a group or strength of a research group or researcher.
